Master of Arts in Theological Studies

As both an academic and professional degree, the Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) provides biblical and theological training to equip you for effective ministry in the church, workplace, parachurch organizations or academic settings.

If you are looking for an online master of theology or an on-site program with person-to-person interaction, you will find a fit through our theology masters degree programs.

After a series of foundational core courses, you will focus on a concentration in theology that includes study of systematic theology, apologetics and ethics. This provides an excellent foundation for further theological studies toward your M.Div. or at the doctorate level.

    Outcomes

Through the master of theology program, you will:

    • Develop biblical principles for spiritual formation and discipleship
    • Learn advanced principles of biblical interpretation
    • Study the socio-historical worlds that gave rise to the Old and New Testaments
    • Survey the history of Christianity
    • Construct a personal theology of leadership

    Is the MATS for you?

A master's in theology is suitable for Christians who would like to increase their biblical knowledge and apply a Christian worldview to their professions. The theology master's degree provides a foundation for educational advancement and professional development for lay ministers, vocational ministers and teachers.
