Jessica Lum is the Interim Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer Team at Northwest College. Lum comes to NWC with a B.A. in Mass Communications from Idaho State University and a M.A. in Applied Anthropology from Northern Arizona University. Lum is from Idaho, though she has lived in the Big Horn Basin for nearly 3 years and now calls Powell home. She brings young experience to the Women’s Soccer Program having been a player herself for over 15 years in various places and levels. She played predominantly for teams in Idaho including junior high and high school teams as well as competitive travel teams. She also played Division III Soccer at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. In addition she has coached the sport at various levels in the past including high school and junior high. The last few years she coached for the Heart Mountain United Soccer Club in Powell at the U8 level and helps with other levels. Lum has a love of the sport and a passion to grow girls and women’s soccer in Wyoming and especially in Powell. Though there are opportunities for girls to play co-ed soccer, having been a female athlete herself Lum would like to see programs be able to offer girls-only teams and programs in the future and sees her new role at Northwest College as a potential catalyst to make that happen. Lum is excited for the chance to provide leadership and direction for the women’s soccer program at Northwest College and to see what that can lead to in the future.
