Office of Intercultural Unity

Our mission is to promote Christian unity in our college community and beyond.
We specifically address issues of racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity.

To encourage the building of relationships with and among students, we provide the Multicultural just prior to the General Orientation at the start of each academic year. Northwestern College is a supportive environment, and we strive to give new students the sense of belonging during their first days in this community and throughout there stay at NWC.

We participate in off-campus events as follows: Retreat in September; National Christian Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (NCMSLC) in November; various services and ministries; educational activities; social activities and concerts of special interest to our students.

Students organize groups which provide times for discussion, Bible study, prayer, and support, as well as social activities each semester.

All NWC students are encouraged to participate in activities, clubs, and groups.

A Brief History
The Office of REDOC opened in 1993 to encourage recruitment and retention of students of color. We have expanded our area of involvement by including support for international students and children of missionaries (MKs).

In Fall 2007, the Office of REDOC was officially changed to Office of Intercultural Unity.

The Office of Intercultural Unity exists to...
Facilitate understanding of racial and ethnic diversity amongst the Northwestern College community and beyond

Encourage retention: Graduate a high percentage of U.S. students of color, international students and Third Culture Kids who are academically prepared and spiritually mature

Promote interaction between international students, U.S. students of color and Third Culture Kids (TCK's or Missionary Kids) within the College and local community

Coordinate campus and community services available to International students and provide assistance regarding immigration matters and other issues

It's Time

An organization for all NWC students who desire to:
Talk about what unites us as one in the body of Christ,
Improve relationships cross-culturally amongst our fellow believers,
Motivate to reach out and celebrate the uniqueness of the kingdom of God, and
