Applications now being accepted for 10-week building construction class

P O W E L L,  W y o. - Openings are still available in a 10-week Construction Trades Program starting Tuesday, Oct. 14, through the Northwest College Center for Training and Development (CTD).

The course is designed to give participants the hands-on background and skills they need to walk onto a job site and start working. In addition to learning about basic safety and rigging, students will get an introduction to blueprints, construction math and the use of hand and power tools.

Class sessions will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the NWC Cody Center in the Park County Complex in Cody. Lab sessions will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays at the Mountain Spirit Habitat for Humanity Building site, also in Cody.

Students who successfully complete the course will receive an NWC certificate and will be eligible for job placement with a contractor.

Several area contractors will teach mini-sessions during the course of the program, supporting lead instructor Duncan Bonine, a board-certified general contractor and the construction coordinator for Mountain Spirit Habitat for Humanity.
