P O W E L L, W y o. - The Northwest College Choir and Northwest Civic Orchestra present a 7:30 p.m. concert of all sacred music Thursday, May 3, at the Union Presbyterian Church on the corner of Third and Bent streets in Powell.

Conductor Jan Kliewer said the program features three "fantastic sopranos" performing arias from a variety of sacred work. Katie Robichaud of Powell, Sara Ricord of Rock Springs and Emily Poindexter of Cody sing solos in works by Mozart and Bach.

Ricord is also featured in John Rutter's "Requiem." Kliewer said Rutter, a contemporary composer, puts a twist on the familiar piece by using other texts to illuminate the traditional requiem literature.

"Rutter's version is written in the guise of a contemporary piece, with more popular and familiar harmonic language," Kliewer said.

Admission is free.
