Oct. 30 Resources for Success Fair highlights assistive services

POWELL, Wyoming — Parents, educational providers and individuals with disabilities are invited to learn about assistive resources and technologies at a Resources for Success Fair from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Yellowstone Building at Northwest College in Powell.

The fair will showcase exhibitors and speakers on a diverse range of topics related to improving quality of life through sports, music, advocacy and technology. Information will be available on education resources for students with disabilities from birth through college.

The spectrum of topics covers advocacy groups, adult agencies, work programs, funding resources, camps, family resources, parent groups, health and other related issues, learning technologies, therapy, home services, supportive employers and sports, theatre, music, arts, and social groups.

NWC personnel will be present to introduce individuals with disabilities and their teams to the resources available at the college level in support of academic, vocational and social success.

The Resources for Success Fair is held in conjunction with the WATR Demo Days Expo, conducted simultaneously in the DeWitt Student Center Lounge at NWC. Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources will provide hands-on demonstrations of assistive technology devices available from its loan library. Highlights include adaptive children’s equipment and interactive options for Wii and PlayStation, alternative access opportunities for studying, learning, communicating and more. Low-cost assistive technology items from the WATR reutilization list will also be available for purchase.
