Entry deadline for Showalter Music Festival extended

P O W E L L, W y o. - Northwest College Director of Bands Neil Hansen said he's extending the entry deadline for the 2007 Showalter Music Festival because of a miscommunication that apparently left young Powell musicians unaware of the Jan. 10 deadline to enter this year's Festival.

"Powell Middle School is usually very well represented at this festival," Hansen said, "but when we saw how few students had enrolled this year, we knew there was a good chance that we just hadn't gotten the message to them. The Showalter festival is more than just another performance preparation for these kids - they can actually earn scholarships to attend music camps. We don't want Powell musicians to be left out when they have this opportunity to get help with the cost of extracurricular music instruction."

The Showalter solo and ensemble festival is open to musicians in grades five-eight for brass, woodwind, percussion, voice and piano performances. It's scheduled Saturday, Feb. 10, this year, and entry fees are $8 for each solo or ensemble entry.

Hansen encourages students or parents of students who would like to participate to call Keli Black, 754-6425, as soon as possible to reserve an entry. Click here for more details available online.
