P O W E L L, W y o. - The Farrier Department at Northwest College is once again accepting horses for shoeing classes and encourages area hunters to take advantage of this opportunity before their seasons open.

"NWC students are ready to begin trimming and shoeing horses," Rik Mettes, farrier instructor, said. "The fall class schedule works well for hunters and other horse riders who want to make sure their horses' hooves are prepared for the upcoming season. Every one of these animals provides a valuable learning experience to our students to learn and use sound shoeing practices."

Mettes said the class is focused on delivering quality work from each individual. He personally oversees all student work to ensure both horses and owners are happy when they leave.

A small fee is charged to help cover expenses. Trimming costs $7 and shoeing is $20. Free overnight stabling is available, and feed and water are provided as necessary.

To arrange shoeing services, or for more information, stop by the Northwest College Equine Center, or call Mettes, (307) 754-6466, and leave a detailed message. He can be reached toll-free at (800) 560-4692, ext. 6466.
