POWELL, Wyo. - Three Northwest College student music groups will perform in two concerts during the month of April. Admission is free to both concerts, which will be held in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.

The Studio Singers, under the direction of Craig Olson, will showcase their repertoire of popular jazz tunes at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14. The evening features a couple of solo performances and a special guest appearance by NWC President Paul Prestwich, who will join the group on piano. Admission is free.

The Northwest College Wind Band and Choir join talents for a full evening of music beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19.

The choir will present an American theme of hymns and songs, showcasing a piece from the opera “Down in the Valley.” Jan Kliewer directs.

The wind band, under the baton of Neil Hansen, offers the “Blue Goose Rag,” “Themes from ‘Green Bushes,’” two selections from the Buffalo Bill Band repertoire, plus more. Highlights include a xylophone solo performance by Angela Hopkin, a music education major from Greybull, on “Galop” from “The Comedians.”

The choir and band perform together to close the evening with “America the Beautiful.”
