NWC and CHS bands team up April 17 in Cody

P O W E L L, W y o. - Cody High School and Northwest College will strike up the bands Tuesday, April 17, in Cody with a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Wynona Thompson Auditorium.

Neil Hansen, director of bands at NWC, will lead the Northwest College Wind Band in "Bugler's Holiday," "Scootin' on Hardrock," plus a hymn, a Latin stylized number featuring the flute section, and others.

The CHS Band, conducted by Morgan Grover, will perform Vaughan Williams' "Flourish for Wind Band" and "Sea Songs" as well as McBeth's "They Hung Their Harps in the Willows" and Pierre Leemans' "March of the Belgian Paratroopers," plus a work featuring the woodwinds.

The program ends with both bands on stage for the "Folk Song Suite" by Ralph Vaughan Williams and a rousing rendition of "America the Beautiful."

Admission is free.
