P O W E L L,  W y o. - The Northwest College cable television channel is now available in Cody.

NWC-TV began transmitting Friday, Sept. 5, on channel 17 of the Bresnan cable system in Cody.

The new Cody channel will receive the same programming as that running on the Bresnan system on channel 21 in Powell and on channel 39 on the TCT West system in Big Horn and Washakie counties.

"The Cody service expands the potential audience to see the work and talents of Northwest College students, as well as the wide range of activities and events happening at Northwest," said Dennis Davis, station manager and assistant professor of journalism and mass communications at NWC. "It also brings the NWC programming to all of Park County with cable TV access."

The channels feature newscasts, weather forecasts and an events calendar as well as coverage of a variety of campus events such as speakers, interviews, graduation, music performances and sports. Programs are produced by students in the Northwest College webcasting practicum class.

The channels will provide live broadcasts of all home volleyball matches including those against Dawson Community College on Sept. 22, Casper College on Sept. 30, Eastern Wyoming College on Oct. 3, Laramie County Community College on Oct. 4, Sheridan College on Oct. 7, Central Wyoming College on Oct. 16, Western Wyoming Community College on Oct. 17 and Miles Community College on Nov. 1.

The games may also be seen as live webcasts. They will be recorded for rebroadcast on cable and archived on the Web site of the Northwest Trail, NWC's student newspaper.
