POWELL, Wyo. - The Northwest College Wind Band and College Choir travel into the future and back at a shared concert Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Auditorium.

An arrangement of John Williams’ music for the “Star Wars” movies will transport listeners to a galaxy far, far away. The NWC Wind Band, under the baton of Neil Hansen, will offer a musical journey to another time and place where ordinary days include adventures with robots, light sabers and sky walkers. The band also performs “The Glory of the Yankee Navy.”

Under the direction of Jan Kliewer, the NWC Choir coaxes the audience back from the future with a repertoire of all sacred music, exploring historical hymns from the 17th century and arrangements of two modern church hymns, “How Can I Keep From Singing” and “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal.” The choir’s featured work is “Lux Aurumque,” a Christmas composition by composer Eric Whitacre.

Admission to the concert is free.
