POWELL, Wyoming — A murder will occur in Powell Friday, Oct. 17, and only a group of dedicated community residents will be able to solve the case. Tickets are on sale now.

It’s all part of “Wyoming’s Guide to Love and Murder,” a murder mystery dinner theatre staged at The Commons to help a group of full-time NWC students pay for their field studies class to New York in January.

With a Broadway-or-bust attitude, the students collectively wrote the script and secured high-style dining arrangements to give Big Horn Basin residents a rare opportunity to participate in an upscale murder mystery theatre.

The action takes place in the lobby of the Radio City Music Hall, circa 1932. The list of suspicious characters includes, but is not limited to, a hobo, a banker, newspaper reporter, detective, opera singer, Wall Street baron and a star of the silver screen.

One person is wearing a grudge because of a perceived lost inheritance; another resents someone for stealing a perfect role in the opera; at least two are having affairs and one is upset about a botched bootlegging bust.

It takes everyone to untangle the mystery and solve the crime. All are rewarded with an elegant meal and an evening of mystery, mayhem and merriment.

Reservations can be guaranteed only if made by Friday, Oct. 10. Tickets are $50 per person. They’re available in the NWC Business Office, located in Room 106 of the Orendorff Building, or by calling Ida Killedemtu at 307-754-6117.
