POWELL, Wyo. - Northwest College’s Islamic students invite the Big Horn Basin community to join them Thursday, Sept. 9, in celebrating the last night of Ramadan. Festivities get underway at 7:30 p.m. in the Rendezvous Lounge of the DeWitt Student Center.

Students will provide food samples and insights into the holiday as it is celebrated around the world. Ramadan is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking and sexual relations from dawn until sunset. During Ramadan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

NWC students involved are from Libya, Lebanon, Algeria, Bahrain, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.

Admission is free, and all are welcome to participate.
