POWELL, Wyo. - It’s back to school for four area bands Thursday, Jan. 12, when they perform a free concert at Northwest College.

The music starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium, featuring the School of Rock Band (a Northwest College class), Mortis, Soldier Springs Blues Band and The Undesided.

Instructed by Ed Cook, the School of Rock Band showcases the talents of nine Big Horn Basin students who learned to play together as a rock band in a two-week intersession class that culminates in this concert.

Powell students performing in the band are Brennan Althoff, Steven Austill, Tia Ibarra, Devon Prell, Tyler Shick, Ryan Swanson and Rebecca Voss. Rounding out the group are Megan O’Halloran of Greybull and Tessa Cozzens of Ralston.

School of Rock Band participants Prell and Shick are also members of Mortis, a local heavy metal group featuring Gage Gatlin, Zach Peabody and Trevor Griffith.

The Soldier Springs Blues Band from Cody will usher in the blues rock stylings of Jez Krubeck, Lucas Krubeck and Ronnie Singer.

The Undesided wraps up the evening with some rock and country tunes featuring School of Rock member Althoff and fellow band members Gary Ladd, Anton Lehman and Schroug.

Admission is free.
