Facilities

The seven-acre Equine Center complex is about one block from the main campus. Students can stable horses and attend riding labs with little inconvenience.

The Center has:

  • an 80' x 160' heated arena with viewing gallery
  • fully equipped farrier lab and breed lab
  • feed storage
  • 100' x 200' outdoor arena;
  • two round corrals
  • seven turn-out paddocks
  • tack room
  • outdoor multi-use area, jumps and trail obstacles
  • indoor/outdoor wash racks
  • access to country riding from the center site
  • plus the MD stall barn

Horses are stabled at the Center's 60-stall MD Stall Barn. Stalls are 12'6" x 12'6". Seven turnout paddocks are available (one horse per paddock with one-half hour limit). Students may keep horses at the college facility. You may be able to bring two to three horses depending on the classes you are enrolled in; however, a stabling fee for each horse will be assessed. Stalls are bedded with sawdust and are cleaned daily by equine students. Although the barn isn't heated, it is well insulated and the temperature is proper for stabling.

All horses are fed the college rations. You may provide a vitamin and mineral supplement if desired. The college retains a veterinarian whose services for minor emergencies and routine work are covered by the stabling fee. You would pay for additional blood work and other diagnostic services.
