Michael Gundlach

Michael

Michael joined the NWC faculty in Fall of 2017. He hails from Sturgis, Michigan, a small town on the Michigan-Indiana border. After completing high school, Michael made his first trek out to the Mountain West to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Math Education from Brigham Young University (BYU), in Provo Utah. After graduating from BYU, Michael taught high school for a year, and then decided to travel back east to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan to go back to school. Michael graduated with his master’s degree in mathematics in May of 2017, and came straight to Powell to teach at NWC. His teaching interests focus on helping future teachers develop their mathematical content knowledge, and just helping students better understand why math works.

Michael is happily married to a wonderful wife, Marybeth, who somehow puts up with his bad puns and collection of Star Wars books. Michael enjoys running, playing Ultimate Frisbee, and getting way too competitive while playing board games.
