Biology/Biochemistry alum takes the next step—to Harvard

David Radke, a 2010 graduate of Northwestern College, has been accepted by the School of Public Health at Harvard University to pursue a Ph.D. bench research biology degree. With a double major from Northwestern in Biochemistry and Biology, Radke is ready to apply his “skills and knowledge towards solving biological questions of great relevance for the public benefit.”

Lake Johanna Shoreline Restoration

Ramsey Conservation District has chosen Northwestern as the 2011 Outstanding Conservationist for Ramsey County after stabilizing almost 4,000 feet of of eroded shoreline on Lake Johanna. Biology/Biochemistry students had the opportunity to participate in the restoration project, giving them a chance to experience environmental work in a real-world context.

Internship Opportunities: Josh Swore travels to University of Florida

One of eight selected to participate in the Research Experience for Undergraduates program funded by the National Science Foundation, senior Josh Swore spent his summer on the Gulf coast studying marine biology and learning what it takes to become a research scientist.
