There are several characteristics that make the Northwestern College Business Department unique.
Every industry, church, or nonprofit organization needs to plan its financial future, raise funds and control costs. In recognition of this necessity, all Northwestern business programs include a rigorous quantitative foundation in statistics, accounting and financial principles. Mathematics is the foundation of the curriculum.
Quality of Students
The Northwestern College Business Department attracts and recruits students interested a rigorous academic curriculum. The faculty business expertise provides the foundation for a student’s initial and long-term business career.
One objective of the business department is to develop marketable skills in our students. We believe on the first day of employment a business graduate should be able to prepare reconciliation, develop and implement an integrated marketing plan, evaluate a budget, give basic tax planning advice or use common software. Graduates have the practical skills to contribute immediately.

Software and Technology
Business students must be literate in today’s technology. All business students are required to take three courses that emphasize the use of technology within a business setting. Students receive practical hands-on training using the newest version of the Microsoft Office Suite. They learn skills that the modern business professional is required to know to be successful in the workplace. Our business faculty is in constant contact with businesses in order to understand what the needs are and to supply students with the technology skills to solve business problems.
Northwestern business seniors consistently rank among the top in the country on the Educational Testing Service Major Field Test. The four-hour, multiple-choice, voluntary exam evaluates a college’s overall business program as compared to other colleges.
