Internships

Northwestern College appreciates organizations that offer quality work experiences to NWC students. We also believe an internship is one of the best ways to help equip our students to meet the demands of their chosen profession.

Here are some things to consider if you are planning to hire a Northwestern intern:

What Is an Academic Internship?

An academic internship is a career related work experience designed to help the student apply their academic learning to the workplace. The intern’s faculty supervisor (IFS) and the intern collaborate to identify applicable learning assignments. Your contribution as an employer-mentor/supervisor is invaluable to the process.

Internship Description

A detailed internship description that outlines the roles and expectations is vital for the success of an internship.

Student Evaluations

After the internship, the internship provider will be asked to complete a final evaluation of the intern. This simple online evaluation form will be sent via e-mail, requesting feedback on the student's abilities, work habits, character and overall contribution. Honest feedback from our internship providers helps us mentor students effectively and make ongoing improvements to the internship program and experience.

Starting an Internship Program

If your organization is interested in working with our staff and faculty to establish an academic internship program please contact Linda Ashworth, at lrashworth@nwc.edu or 651-631-5109.
