Board member David Kelby speaks at Fall Commencement

Nov. 23—Northwestern welcomes David Kelby, former NWC board member and former senior vice president and treasurer for General Mills, as the speaker for the Fall 2010 Commencement ceremony, which takes place Dec. 17.

David KelbyKelby spent 28 years at General Mills and was elected to the NWC Board of Trustees in 2000 and has served as the Committee Chair for the Finance/Audit Committee until the end of his term this past September. His rich career in law and finance included positions with highly recognized organizations such as Cargill, Graco and the law firm of Felhaber, Larson, Fenlon & Vogt.

He received his bachelor's degree, J.D and M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota and completed the program for management development at Harvard Business School.

Kelby and his wife, Jinny, have been married for 52 years and have three adult children and eight grandchildren. Their son, Tom Kelby, graduated from the first Master of Arts in Theological Studies class in the Center for Graduate Studies Program here at Northwestern College in September 2008.

Kelby is an active member of the Sanibel (Fla.) Community Church. He teaches Bible studies in Sanibel and holds a summer church at their lake home in Webster, Wis.
