Men's Basketball sends three to NABC Honors Court

NABC Release

ST. PAUL -- Three Northwestern College men's basketball players were recently honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), joining other men across the country in the 2010-11 NABC Honors Court. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria that includes being of junior or senior academic status and a varsity player while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2010-11 academic year.

Ethan Benton (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn Mar), Gabe Jefferson (Lincoln, Neb./Southeast) and Aaron Reep (Springfield, Ohio/Emmanuel Christian), who all completed their junior year in May, represented Northwestern on the Honors Court. Benton is an accounting major, Jefferson is pursuing a degree in biology, and Reep is majoring in secondary education and social studies.

All three players also received Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Academic All-Conference honors, joining 53 other Northwestern student-athletes to earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in their semester(s) of competition.
