Student-athletes team up with Hospitality House for Christmas with Dignity

Dec. 20—While putting the finishing touches on their first semester class assignments and preparing for final exams, a host of student-athletes from Northwestern College donated their time to Hospitality House Youth Development (HHYD) of Minneapolis for Christmas with Dignity. Eagle Athletics has partnered with Christmas with Dignity for four straight years, sending physical help as well as acting as a drop-off site for toy donations.

63 Northwestern student-athletes voluntarily worked over 130 hours unloading semi-trucks, sorting toys and accompanying shoppers through the Christmas with Dignity store for purchasing. Christmas with Dignity offers parents from low-income families in the Twin Cities area to purchase gifts at 80 to 90 percent off of retail costs. Gifts are donated by the public as well as from companies such as Wal-Mart to stock the Christmas with Dignity inventory.

Founded in 1960 and incorporated in 1963, Hospitality House is committed to developing responsible inner city youth, ages 5-18, physically, intellectually and spiritually through their birth and growth in Jesus Christ. HHYD also seeks to strengthen families because the organization believes that the family has a key role in the successful development of youth.
