The Music Department invites you to the Guest Artist Recital and Master Classes of Nariaki Sugiura, D.M., Assistant Professor of Piano, and Simona Barbu, D.M.A., Assistant Professor of Cello, both at University of North Dakota (UND) in Grand Forks. Nariaki Sugiura, who served on the piano faculty of educational institutions in Denver and China before his position at UND, received his Master’s and Doctorate of Music in Piano Performance degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Simona Barbu received a master of music degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Memphis. She served as a faculty member at Mississippi State University before coming to teach at UND. The Guest Artist Recital and Master Classes are free and open to the public.

 

Saxophone Master Class: Eugene Rousseau

The Music Department invites you to the Saxophone Master Class of Eugene Rousseau. Dr. Rousseau has performed across North America and on five continents since his Carnegie Hall debut. Rousseau's artistry has inspired many "firsts." He gave the first solo saxophone recitals in Paris, Berlin, Vienna, London and Amsterdam. He has given a yearly master course at the prestigious Mozarteum in Salzburg since 1991, the first year the saxophone was included, and has premiered numerous works written for him (for saxophone and orchestra). Rousseau has appeared with many national and international orchestras, including the Minnesota Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin, the U.S. Army Band at Kennedy Center, the Budapest Strings in Hungary, and the Tokyo Bach Band, as well as the Hamamatsu International Wind Instrument Festival in Japan. He holds the title of Distinguished Professor of Music at Indiana University, having served on the IU faculty from 1964 to 2000. Dr. Rousseau joined the faculty of the University of Minnesota School of Music in fall 2000. The Master Class is free and open to the public.

 

Piano Tour Homecoming Recital

We invite you to enjoy an aural feast of piano music spanning four centuries, from Bach to Brahms, Liszt to Liebermann! Please pray for Dr. Richard Lange and Dr. Barbara Rogers, as well as piano students Emily Baltzer, Julia Clearman, David Danielson II, Katie Daugherty, Rudy Heuer, Susanna Lim, Behtany Pertzsch, Brienna Rossiter, Sarah Schmoeckel, and Emilee Selin, as they tour to Elk River, St. Croix Falls, Stillwater, and several schools in the Twin Cities area.
