All campus buildings are open to the public; face coverings and social distancing required.
This hybrid course will help surgical technologists learn the general functions in and around the operating room.
Surgical technologists will learn to prepare operating rooms for surgery; sterilize and supply equipment; prepare patients for surgery, such as washing incision sites; help surgeons and nurses during surgery by passing them instruments and other sterile supplies.
Also learn non-sterile procedures such as endoscopy.
Prerequisites: American Heart Association Basic Life Support and a High School Diploma
Students will need to be up to date on their immunizations prior to clinical, pass a background check and a drug screening.
Lab Dates: Fridays, 8amn-12pm at the Allied Health Center in Cody
Clinicals: Dates will vary and will be set up with student. Clinicals will also depend on surgeon schedules. Clinicals will be based on surgical cases, not total hours.
Required manuals and supplies will be provided and are included in the cost of the course.
Register early as only 6 students will be accepted. This is a certificate program and state exam is required to receive state certificate.
