This series will introduce meditation, its benefits, and provide participants with the tools and techniques to establish their own meditation practice. In addition, participants will experience different styles of meditation in the classroom environment and be offered the opportunity to continue each practice on their own during the week between classes. This series heavily emphasizes personal experience and participation.
Dr. Laura Vanderberg is a proven professional. Over the last 20+ years, she has served as a scientific advisor and mentor to a diverse group of US Government, military and civilian professionals. In her work, she has been a program and people manager, team builder, mentor and facilitator. Laura’s people skills were initially honed during a six year period where she served as a Science Advisor for the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), interacting with military personnel and technology developers at all levels of the government. She continues to grow her skills through formal trainings and personal experiences. Laura is no stranger to corporate America, having been employed by a research laboratory for almost ten years. She was responsible for building team morale in high stress environments, advising senior leaders and staff members on improving communications and corporate culture, and serving as Chief Scientist. Ten years ago, she established Cody’s first dedicated yoga studio that is still in business today. Recently, she and her husband opened a consulting business built on years of close working relationships with people from across the nation. Laura strives to empower clients and co-workers to live their lives fully. She does this by offering practical tools with sound scientific underpinnings. Intra- and interpersonal skills are tools that are critical to success and productivity in the work environment and in life outside of work. Laura has created a series of mini-workshops and classes to share these tools with our community. All of her programs include facilitated discussion, experiential activities and take-home materials designed to help people put these tools to work. Laura’s educational accomplishments include: PhD in microbiology, Associate Certified Coach (ACC), and certified Yoga Therapist. She has been invited to, and has offered courses and workshops across the country on a wide range of topics. Laura writes a monthly article for Cody Living Magazine, has contributed articles online and in text to other magazines, and is co-author of the book Holistic Healing with Yoga Therapy. She resides in Cody, with her husband and their three furry kids, where they love to spend time exploring the outdoors.
