COVID-19

The REC Co-Op will be opening in a shortened capacity for Summer 2020.  Our procedures will change, and are listed below.  We will also be limited on the equipment we can check out due to the challenges of cleaning some items, and the high capacity for virus transmission to some items such as sleeping backs where people would be breathing into them all night.  The following is a list of equipment that we will be able to check out:

- Stand Up Paddle boards  (SUP’s) + accessories
- Touring, Whitewater, Inflatable kayaks + accessories
- Whitewater Rafts + accessories
- Backpacking Stoves and Fuel bottles
- Mountain/Town Bikes + accessories
- Backpacking stoves

  • For the most part, “accessories” includes items such as helmets, paddles, life jackets (PFD’s) and bike locks. We do not check out fuel for backpacking stoves, just the bottles. You are responsible for providing your own fuel, which is Coleman type White Gas in the 1-gallon fuel cans at local outdoor, and select hardware and farm and ranch stores. We will not be checking out any “try on” items such as clothing, shoes etc.

We will also be operating on an “on-call” basis to where you will need to complete the REC Co-Op Reservation form (link provided below) and submit at least a week in advance and we will contact you with any questions and a REC Co-Op checkout form for listing each piece of equipment.  On the reservation form, you will need to indicate what the equipment you want is and all appropriate sizes and specifications.  In some cases, we will need to know what size top you wear to fit an appropriate PFD if needed.  Also for bikes, it is helpful to know your height so we can arrange for the correct size bike, and then # of people for things such as rafts etc.

When we are all set with the reservation of equipment and you have the checkout form showing the correct equipment you are interested in,  we will arrange a time and date where the equipment will be left in the yard in front of the FAB Annex.  I will be at the FAB Annex either inside the door, or sitting in a car to monitor the equipment until it is picked up, and when it is dropped off.  There will not be the ability for anyone to enter the FAB Annex, in part due to the Child Care Center being located in the Annex during the summer, to look through, exchange or otherwise browse equipment.  Make sure you are specific about equipment before you come to pick it up.

Due to the challenges of the COVID-19 regulations, social distancing and offices being closed, we will not be collecting deposits for equipment during the summer.  You are still required to complete the REC Co-Op Member agreement however.  There have been changes made to it, so anyone checking out equipment from this print forward will need to complete the Member Agreement again, even if you did so this past Fall or spring.  The link is provided below for the Member Agreement, along with the Reservation form.

All check outs will be done for up to 5-business days with the exception of bikes that are able to be checked out for longer durations during the summer.

Please contact me if you have any questions.  You can also email reccoop@nwc.edu
