The 31st annual Yellowstone Summer Music Camp (YSMC) for middle and high school band and choir musicians gets underway with afternoon registration Sunday, June 19, and ends Friday afternoon, June 24, with a gala concert for parents. The YSMC attracts students from across the Rocky Mountains to the NWC campus in Powell.

Many scholarships are available, but some are given on a first-come, first-served basis, so early applicants have the best chance of reducing their camp costs. YSMC campers may apply for scholarships in solo/small ensemble, senior, leadership and all-state music. Award amounts, application instructions and eligibility requirements are available online.

Music instructors from across the United States provide personal attention to musicians in concert bands and choirs, jazz bands and choirs, and select small ensemble groups. Campers are invited to enroll in special interest classes like music theory, harmonica, musical theater, boomwackers, reed adjusting, jazz combos, acting up, conducting, guitar, studio recording, digital scrapbooking, fun and fitness and many more. Private lessons on all instruments and voice are also available.

Online registration and scholarship submissions are required. Full tuition, room and board at the Yellowstone Summer Music Camp is $595, or $395 for commuters who pay tuition only, when paid by June 1. Campus check-in is June 19.

For more information about the camp (including camp schedule, application form and scholarship applications), follow the “Music Camp” drop-down arrow on our website or use this link. For questions, contact the music office at 307-754-6425.

The YSMC culminates with a 2 p.m. concert Friday, June 24, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
