After a weekend sweep in Colorado, the Trappers (3-2) returned to Wyoming to take on a recently reinstated Pronghorn program (0-3-1) which is making its return after being canceled during the pandemic era.

Northwest continued its offensive outburst early in the contest, when Daniel Gargallo Saavedra got on the board through a Harry Cullen assist and gave the Trappers the 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.

Pedro Miguel Vilaca continued his recent scoring success, doubling the Northwest lead eight minutes later on another Cullen assist.

Minutes before the halftime whistle, Vilaca got his second of the match on a Ricardo Farias da Silva assist and the Trappers went into half firmly in control up 3-0.

Out of the break, Farias da Silva scored, extending the advantage out to 4-0 just seven minutes into the second half.

Vilaca capped off his hat trick with 30 minutes left in the match, giving the Trappers a convincing 5-0 victory on the road.

Northwest was set to take on Central Wyoming College (2-4) on Saturday at home before heading to Casper on Monday to take on No. 13-ranked Casper College (4-1).

Full recaps for those matches will be in Thursday’s edition of the Powell Tribune.
