After a successful 2022-23 season the Northwest College women’s basketball team will return three players from last year’s roster, looking to make an impact in the third year under coach Lauren Davis.
The top player returning from last year’s squad is guard Roxanne Rogers, who was named to the Region IX North All-Region first team for her efforts last season.
During her first season at Northwest she averaged 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and assists per game after making her way north from Pinedale.
She ranked 14th in the nation for 3-point percentage after shooting 41.9% from beyond the arc, making her a key to the team’s success.
“I have really high expectations for her this year,” Davis said.
Another Trapper returner is Tyne Killip, who served primarily as a guard and a spark off the bench during her first year at Northwest in 15 games.
Despite averaging only 0.9 points per game, Davis expects Killip to grow into a larger role this season.
“She really grew as a freshman,” Davis said. “She got a lot stronger and quicker. I am expecting big things from her and I anticipate she will be a great leader.”
The final returner to the team this season will be Anna Knight, who had her freshman year cut short when she suffered a torn ACL.
She played 18 games for the team, starting in five while averaging 4.7 points a contest.
Knight is a returning forward for the Trappers, and will look to lead heading into her sophomore season.
“She’s a returning post for us, has exceptional work ethic, and has been rehabbing her torn ACL from the season and we are so excited to see her hard work pay off,” Davis said.
The season is quickly approaching for the Trappers, with the three returners joining nine new players this season.
Practices will begin soon for the program, along with scrimmages in October before the first official games in November.
