One final recruit is set to join the Trapper volleyball team in a strong 2022 class when it starts the fall season in just six short days.

Jocelyn Sanders joins the middle defense of the Trappers from Shadow Ridge High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In her final season at Shadow Ridge, she finished with 158 kills, 56 blocks alongside 44 digs.

Sanders was named second team All-Conference in Nevada and was part of a club team that placed third at USA Volleyball National Qualifiers and USA Volleyball Nationals this year.

She comes to the Trappers as one of eight recruits to go alongside five returning players hoping to make another jump after an improved 2021 campaign.

Throughout the year, the Trappers have been adding talent to a strong roster, starting back in November just after the conclusion of last season, up until May when Sanders was the final player to sign with Northwest.

The signing period started with libero Ellie Thomas from Thunder Basin High School in Gillette.

Other recruits include Kim Pannell, an outside/right side hitter from Sugar Salem High School in Rexburg, Idaho; Andie Thomas, an outside/right side hitter from Syracuse High School in Syracuse, Utah; and another Wyoming recruit, Mountain View’s Kamri Hutchings, who will come to Northwest as a setter. The final recruit from the initial signees was Mia Sorenson, who Trapper Head Coach Scott Keister said will bring in a strong defensive presence this season.

Recruitment continued throughout the year, bringing in two additional recruits in April.

These recruits included middle blocker Keaton Lynn from Bozeman, Montana, and Megan Pannell, a transfer student from Snow College in Utah.

Trapper volleyball will also bring in two student assistants this season: DanniKa Barfuss from Bancroft, Idaho, and Maren Cottrell from Worland.

Trapper volleyball is set to begin practice Monday, Aug. 1, and will begin matches on the road at the Big Sky Challenge in Butte, Montana, on Aug. 19.

The first home action for the Trappers will be the Trapper Invitational, which kicks off Thursday, Aug. 25 and goes through Aug. 27.
