A weekend filled with emotion saw the Northwest men’s basketball team finish the inaugural Coach Collins Heart of a Champion Memorial Classic at Cabre Gym with a 1-1 record, defeating the All-Stars 97-65 on Friday before losing to North Idaho College 88-65 on Saturday.

When tragedy struck in late July the Northwest men’s basketball players were left reeling from the loss of their coach. Now, the Trappers have found a way to honor former coach Jay Collins by hosting the first Jay Collins Memorial Tournament this weekend at Cabre Gym.

It was a tale of two games against the Rocky Mountain JV for the Northwest men’s basketball team, which cruised to an 85-57 victory at home on Friday before escaping with a 70-67 overtime win in Billings on Tuesday to move to 3-0 on the season.
