A season of memorable highs and disappointing lows came to an end Saturday for the Northwest College men’s soccer team, as the Trappers dropped the opening game of the Region IX playoffs 5-1 against Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff.

Going into the 87th minute, the Northwest College men’s soccer team was in control against Western Wyoming Community College, holding a 2-1 lead as the final game of the regular season wound down in Rock Springs last week.

Wyoming Spirit A Force To Reckon With
While youth programs continue to grow and thrive in urban areas, in a rural state like this one, soccer is still perceived as a niche sport; few participants continue past the level of juice boxes and participation trophies, lured away by other athletic pursuits and extracurricular activities. So for the Northwest College men’s team to have nine Wyoming-raised players on its current roster is a testament to the love they have for the game.
