POWELL, WYOMING – Eight Wyoming community college students have been selected as recipients of this year’s Shaping Wyoming’s Future Award, including Abigail Jeffery of Northwest College. The award presented by the Wyoming Business Alliance recognizes one student from each of the state’s community colleges for the ways they’ve transformed their lives through the Wyoming community colleges system, and how their efforts and participation in their communities are shaping the state’s future.

A native of Park City, Montana, Jeffery came to Northwest College in 2024 after graduating from Absarokee High. She’s scheduled to graduate from NWC this spring with an Associate of Science in Pre-Occupational Therapy and plans to continue her education in that field next year through the occupational therapy doctorate program currently operated by the University of North Dakota at Casper College.

Jeffery is a familiar face across campus at Northwest College while keeping a busy schedule in a variety of leadership roles. She serves on the NWC Student Senate as Student Activities Board Chair, is president of the school’s Turning Point USA chapter, and an officer in the trap, skeet, and hunting club, serving as treasurer. She also participates in numerous student activities and admissions events throughout the year, assisting in the recruitment of future Northwest College students.

The group of award winners will be honored by the Wyoming Business Alliance at a private luncheon on Thursday, February 12 in Cheyenne during the state legislative session. Each student will also receive a $500 scholarship from the WBA and the Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees, with funding also provided by each of the respective college foundations.
