Institutional research is research conducted by a higher education institution to provide reliable data to support planning, policy development, and decision-making.

In addition, the institutional research office:

  • Compiles and submits data for state and national reports for informational and accountability purposes.
  • Coordinates efforts institutionally and across the state of Wyoming to maintain consistent and accurate data usage.

Federal Reports

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) - Every institution that receives federal funding is required to submit data annually to the U.S. Department of Education through IPEDS. IPEDS collects data in the areas of enrollment, degree/certificate completions, graduation rates, student financial aid, finance, and human resources.

Equity in Athletics - Athletics data is submitted annually to the U.S. Department of Education, as required by the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act.

State Reports

Wyoming Community College Commission (WCCC)

Northwest College is one of seven Wyoming community colleges supported by the Wyoming Community College Commission. The Commission's mission and purpose is "to provide coordination, advocacy, and accountability for the Community College System on behalf of the State of Wyoming" (WCCC website). The Northwest College Institutional Research Office collaborates with the Commission to report statewide data.
