POWELL, Wyo. - A two-part series of Friday "Bookkeeping and Beyond" seminars starts with "Accounting Fundamentals" from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, March 5 and 19, at the Northwest College Center for Training and Development.

Jan Kraft, a certified management accountant and associate professor of accounting and business administration at Northwest College, leads both seminars.

In the fundamentals class, she covers the basics of the financial cycle, with the goal of making sense out of any bookkeeping system (including QuickBooks). She'll show how to turn everyday events into meaningful reports through the use of transactions, journals, ledgers, debits, credits, balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.

Kraft is back Friday, April 16, to teach "Bookkeeping and Beyond: Introduction to Payroll Taxes" from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. From FUTA to SUTA and FICA, she'll discuss what they are, how they're calculated, who pays them and when. She'll also offer insight into payroll tax rules and forms, and answer questions specific to individual's workplaces.

Cost for the two-day seminar is $80; the second seminar is $40

More information about these seminars is available online by following the "Training Schedule" link, e-mail to the NWC Center for Training and Development, or by calling (307) 754-6062.
