POWELL, Wyo. - Northwest College invites the Powell community to start the school year off on a healthy note by participating in a Kick-Off Weekend Fun Run Saturday, Aug. 27.

It’s free for everyone, young and old, plus all participants receive a T-shirt and water bottle.

The Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. in front of the DeWitt Student Center, offering three course options to choose from: a one-mile walk, one-mile run, or 5K go at your own pace.

“This is an event almost everyone in town can participate in,” said Lori Austill, who helped organize the Fun Run. “If you can walk around an average block five times, you can finish the one-mile walk to get a prize. We’d love for school children, families and seniors to challenge each other to combine fun and fitness. It doesn’t cost a cent, but who knows, it might motivate you to start moving more.”

Participants can ensure they’ll receive the correct size T-shirt by registering in advance. Register early by emailing or calling Lori Austill at 307-754-6410. Or registrations can be submitted in advance by completing and mailing the online Fun Run registration form. Registrations will also be accepted from 7:30-8 a.m. the day of the event, but T-shirts aren’t guaranteed.
