P O W E L L, W y o. - The Northwest College Foundation is using its 2006 Annual Campaign to remind area residents that local support for NWC is at the heart of the college's success.

Powell will conduct a beginning Excel training in a two-session class that meets from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 10 and 12, at the Center for Technology and Innovation on the Northwest College West Campus. Participants get six hours of hands-on learning, starting with customizing Excel and utilizing toolbar features. In addition to learning how to create a worksheet and enter formulas into cells, they'll also add charts to a worksheet and learn to use Excel as a database. By the end of the training, they should have a handle on the most widely used features of this powerful program and a comprehensive manual to refer to afterward.

A two-part beginning Word training is also available in Powell from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 17 and 19, at the Center for Training and Innovation. This class introduces the tools needed to create, edit, print and save a Word document. Starting with the basics, students will first learn to use toolbars, fonts, margins, borders, shading, bullets, clip art, cut, copy and paste commands. They'll advance to columns, tables and templates and in the process learn to use Wizards and the help command, and how to create headers and footers, envelopes and labels.

The same Word training is offered twice in Cody in a day-long format on Tuesdays, Oct. 10 and 24. Participants enrolled in this format commit to a single session that meets from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Northwest College Center for Training and Development in the new Park County Complex.

"PowerPoint with Pizzazz" covers the fundamentals of PowerPoint design and introduces the many types and uses of multimedia integration into PowerPoint. Participants will learn how to hone their presentation skills by creating custom design templates, using special effects, adding music and video to slide show presentations, creating presentations for Web site broadcasting, using advanced Visual Basic tools and more.
