POWELL, Wyoming — From software to supervisor training, the Northwest College Cody Center for Training and Development offers November classes to rev up the workforce.
The lineup starts Monday, Nov. 3, with a two-part evening class on “Microsoft Word 2010 Basics” taught by Ashlee Lundvall. Covering the basic functions and features of newest Word version, training begins with utilizing the Help system and navigating documents. In addition to text creation, modification and formatting, students will create tables, insert headers, footers and graphics, proof and print documents. This class meets from 6-9:30 p.m. Nov. 3 and 5. The $99 fee includes a comprehensive manual.
Lundvall returns Friday, Nov. 7, to teach an all-day class on “Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 Basics.” After learning to create, save and rearrange presentations, students will format text, use drawing objects, work with graphics, insert tables and charts, use templates, themes, slide masters and transition effects. The class meets from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and includes a comprehensive manual. Cost is $99 per person.
“MSHA New Miner Training Parts 46 and 48” and “MSHA Refresher Training” are offered the week of Nov. 10-13. The new miner training meets Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 10-12, to cover miner rights, dust hazards, hazard recognition, electrical safety, accident prevention, ground control, supervisory responsibility, noise hazards, first aid, transportation, fire safety and respirators. Cost is $195 per person; discounts apply for multiple employees from the same company.
The MSHA refresher course meets Thursday, Nov. 13, for basic construction workers and miners engaged in shell dredging or employed at sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate or surface limestone mines. This training is also applicable to underground miners in the coal and gypsum industries. Cost is $95 per person.
Wendy Corr will teach an all-day “Supervisor Training” Friday, Nov. 14, focusing on motivating employees and creating a more efficient, enjoyable and effective work environment. This class is designed for new supervisors as well as veteran supervisors looking for fresh approaches for working with staff. Cost is $89; Cody Country Chamber of Commerce members receive a $10 discount.
