The Northwest College Alumni Association invites the public to participate in an October trip to Portugal and southern Spain.
The 2017 trip, scheduled for Oct. 2-15, explores the region’s history, geography and culture. Travelers will have opportunities ranging from exploring Roman ruins in Merida, Spain, to touring Malaga’s Picasso Museum.
Professors Emeriti Richard Wilson and Harriet Bloom-Wilson are planning and will help lead the trip, which is organized and designed exclusively for the group by Gate 1 Travel Tours. As experienced world travelers, the Wilsons have led college Field Studies classes throughout Spain, France, Ireland, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.
Meetings preceding the trip will cover the history, literature, art, language and customs of the places to be visited.
On this 12-day tour, travelers will spend four nights in Lisbon and Sintra, Portugal, and eight nights in the cities of Seville, Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Madrid, Spain.
A few items of interest on the itinerary include a visit to the Cathedral of Lisbon, a Flamenco Show in Seville and a tour of Granada’s Alhambra Palace. A journey to Spain’s La Mancha region and wine tasting tours are also slated on the schedule.
