POWELL, WYOMING – The Northwest College Office of International Student & Scholar Services is seeking local families to join the Friendship Family program, which gives members of the community an opportunity to learn more about world cultures while making an impact on the lives of international students attending NWC.
The program serves as a cross-cultural exchange between community members and students, who reside on campus but periodically join their Friendship Family for other activities. This often includes sharing meals, celebrating special or traditional events, or trips to nearby locations a student may otherwise be unable to visit.
Approximately 100 international students are expected to attend Northwest College for the 2026-27 academic year, and roughly half that number will be new. To help facilitate the process, two Friendship Family Mixers are scheduled for Sunday, August 2 and Thursday, September 3, with both mixers running from 5 to 6 p.m. The August 2 event is being held at the NWC Soccer Fieldhouse (on the west side of the soccer field), and the September 3 event takes place at the Bloom-Wilson Intercultural House (located at 565 College Drive in Powell).
Those planning to attend either mixer should RSVP to international@nwc.edu by July 27. More information can be found at nwc.edu/international/friendship-family.html, including a questionnaire for those interested in becoming part of the Friendship Family program.
