POWELL, Wyo. - The Northwest College Music Department will showcase its Guitar Ensemble and College Choir in a diverse assortment of musical selections at a 7:30 p.m. concert, Monday, April 29, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
Concluding their second semester under the tutelage of Jeff Troxel, the Guitar Ensemble performs “Gymnopedie #1,” “House of the Rising Sun” and Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” Ensemble students include Logan Michaels of Burlington, Christopher Bickford of Powell, Deaver Alden of Hardin, Mont., and Matthew Joyce of Deadwood S.D.
The College Choir changes the tempo and wraps up the evening with their repertoire of spring choral literature anchored by a number of folk songs from around the world. Jan Kliewer will direct the group in a few numbers they performed in January with a group of master musicians from the Republic of Moldova, as well as folk songs from Israel, Romania and the British Isles. He hinted that the choir may also reprise some selections from NWC’s recent opera theatre production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Iolanthe.” Tim Schoessler will provide accompaniment.
Admission to this evening of music is free and open to the public.
