Northwest College was honored at the 2021 Paragon Awards from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations at the council’s national conference in Denver last week.

The college’s marketing team was awarded in the following categories:

  • Flyer, Single or Series (GOLD) – for the team’s work on the Trapper Head infographic.
  • Facebook (GOLD) – for the team’s work on the Northwest College Facebook page.
  • Fundraising Campaign (SILVER) – for the team’s work on the inaugural Giving Day.

“It is very exciting to hear that the marketing and communication team has been recognized by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations,” said NWC President Lisa Watson. “Receiving two gold awards and one silver award reflects the quality of their work and value of the connections they create with our students and the public.”

The 2021 Paragon Awards drew 1,719 entries from 232 colleges across the country and was judged by nearly 70 professionals from the marketing and public relations industry. Entries stretched from coast to coast and from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Florida.

“I have never been more proud of my team", said NWC communications and marketing director Carey Miller. “Their dedication and passion for their craft is second-to-none, and it shows in the amount of heart they put into everything they do—this recognition is well deserved.”

NWC Communications & Marketing team members include Jeremiah Howe, Tim Carpenter, and Michaela Jones (from 2017-2021), with support from George Laughlin and Kim Lawson in Printing Services.

NCMPR’s Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges. It’s the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.

“We are honored to recognize the outstanding work of community colleges across the country,” said Debra McGaughey, NCMPR’s 2021-22 president. “The creativity and hard work displayed in these winning entries is a testament to the talent and dedication of our members.”

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the NCMPR is the professional development organization for community college communicators, serving more than 1,500 members from more than 470 colleges across the United States and Canada. It’s the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges.
