Wyoming musicians between the ages of 15 and 20 years old are eligible to audition during the 2017 Wyoming Young Artist Competition Saturday, Jan. 14, on the Northwest College campus in Powell. Performance sessions will begin at 1 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Auditorium.
Participants may enter one of three categories of competition: instrumental, vocal or piano. Top musicians in each category will win a $300 cash prize and have the opportunity to perform a solo piece with the Northwest Civic Orchestra Saturday, April 29, in Powell.
To register, contestants must submit an application, along with a digital copy of the score they wish to perform, online at www.northwestmusic.org by Monday, Jan. 9. In lieu of digital sheet music, three printed copies of the selected works may also be mailed to: Young Artist Competition, Northwest College Music Department, 231 W. 6th St. Building 2, Powell, WY 82435.
