POWELL, Wyoming — The Northwest College Foundation invites Big Horn Basin residents to be thoughtful about the upcoming spending season by joining the national #GivingTuesday movement.

“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two days for getting deals. Now, there’s a day to give,” Andrea Shipley, NWC development coordinator, said. “This is a day ordinary people can give in small ways to achieve extraordinary things for Northwest College students.”

The NWC Foundation will join over 10,000 organizations across the country in creating a national movement around the holidays that’s dedicated to giving. Foundation staff and NWC students will use telephone calls, email messages and social media to encourage giving. The campaign culminates Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

“Students need our support more than ever,” Shipley said. “So many of us have benefitted from Northwest College in some way, and we want to promote a day that’s dedicated to giving back to this special place. You don’t have to be a billionaire to participate. Anyone can get involved.”

Those who are interested in joining the NWC Foundation’s #Giving Tuesday initiative can visit online to participate. To see what’s happening with the initiative on a global level, follow #GivingTuesday, or like the Northwest College Foundation Facebook page to get a feel for local momentum.
