Northwest College in Powell will offer two entirely online degree options available to students looking to earn an associate of arts degree in sociology or the general social sciences.
Starting in the fall 2017 semester, these two options will enable students to complete either degree without having to travel to an NWC campus.
For potential students who have always wanted a college education but have been unable to travel to campus due to work, transportation issues or family obligations, these new online options provide the opportunity to pursue a degree with just an internet connection.
Both degrees are solid foundations for students interested in pursuing careers in sociology, social welfare, criminal justice, economic development, law or public health. They also provide opportunities to transfer into related bachelor’s degree programs.
The social science associate’s degree is especially good for anyone who is undecided but wants to explore a variety of courses and disciplines within the social sciences.
Both online degrees require a minimum of 60 credits to complete, just like the on-campus options do. By taking an average of 15 credits per semester, students can complete either degree within two years.
Registration for fall 2017 classes opens to the public Wednesday, April 5. Appointments made with an NWC advisor before the April 5 registration day will allow students to sign up for classes with priority registration on Tuesday, April 4.
