POWELL, Wyoming — Some folk prefer to learn about “far away” lands without the trains, planes, buses and adventures of actual international travel. If that sounds like you, here’s your chance to visit the North Africa country of Algeria. The program gets underway at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center at Northwest College.
NWC students will introduce their Algerian culture through a multimedia presentation of images, traditional dress, food samples, music and dance.
The largest country in Africa and 10th largest country in the world, Algeria is bordered on the north by the Mediterranean Sea; neighboring countries include Morocco, Libya and Tunisia. Rich in oil reserves and natural gas, it also includes mountain ranges and a substantial portion of the Sahara desert.
The event is sponsored by the NWC Multicultural Club, Intercultural Programs, Diversity Awareness Committee and Student Senate.
Admission is free.
