POWELL, Wyo. - The musical month of May starts with recitals May 3 and 5 at Northwest College.

Selected students from the NWC Trombone Studio will be featured along with the Big Horns Trombone Choir in a 7:30 p.m. recital Tuesday, May 3, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.

The audience will be treated to selections ranging from solos to large ensembles, all under the direction of Rick Parmer.

The Big Horns will close the evening with a few numbers guaranteed to win the hearts of the crowd: “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “The Calling,” “Es ist genug” and “Intrade.”

The NWC Flute and Percussion Ensembles take the stage Thursday, May 5, for a joint program. The evening gets underway at 7:30 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.

Each group will present a variety of works from a wide range of styles and then combine for a performance of traditional music for percussion and flutes from the Akan People of Ghana. A brass band joins in on the Ghana work.

Austin Frescoln directs the flutes. Percussionists are under the baton of Robert Rumbolz.

Admission to both concerts is free.
