Following a series of renovations that began in March, Northwest College’s Johnson Fitness Center is scheduled to reopen Monday, Aug. 20, in its original location at the corner of Seventh and Bernard Streets. An open house will take place Thursday, Aug. 30, after next week’s fitness center closure.
The project, funded by major maintenance funds NWC receives annually from the state, included asbestos abatement, updated electrical systems and new flooring.
“As we kick off the fall semester, I’m excited to welcome new and returning NWC students and gym members back into our renovated space,” Johnson Fitness Center Coordinator Haley Sorenson said.
While staff members are in the process of moving equipment back to the JFC, the temporary fitness center at the Fagerberg Annex Building, located at 724 North Beckman Street, will be closed Aug. 13-19.
However, before the closure, staff members will begin moving some of the larger pieces of equipment to the JFC to help solidify and plan for the new layout.
In addition, as part of the reopening, the JFC will host an open house Thursday, Aug. 30, from 4:30-7 p.m.
Throughout the event, attendees will have the opportunity to win a variety of door prizes through a drawing. All NWC students, gym members and area residents are invited to attend. Stay tuned for more open house details as they emerge on the JFC’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/nwcjohnsonfitnesscenter/.
JFC memberships are available in the NWC Business Office in the Orendorff Building at the corner of Sixth and Cheyenne Streets.
