POWELL, WYOMING – Northwest College has been awarded a $74,970 State of Wyoming Pre-Hire Grant, which will provide additional financial options to students interested in earning a commercial driver’s license. Funded by the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, the grant’s purpose is to develop an industry-specific workforce for new or expanding businesses, or areas with a shortage of skilled workers.

The grant will be administered through the Northwest College Center for Training & Development, with funds available for 15 students on a first-come-first-served basis through June 30. Each student may receive up to $4,675 covering expenses related to the CDL program, and both credit and noncredit options are available.

Northwest College was supported in the grant application process by the Powell Economic Partnership, the local Department of Workforce Services, and multiple independent employers in the Bighorn Basin including Ryan Bros. Trucking, Keele Sanitation, and Wyo-Ben.
